Full Face Helmet - Motorcycles Are Cheaper In The Long Run
Posted in Auto on July 24th, 2008If you want to be safe don’t buy motorcycles. But if you want to save money over what cars cost then a cycle is not a bad choice. Reckless car drivers do not watch for cycles, which can cause accidents. All riders and drivers need to be cautious when on the road. One great tip for motorcyclist is to wear their helmet and turn their lights one when traveling.
To be safe there are a few things you will need to get. Start with some kind of helmet the one that is the most protective is the full-face helmet. Then there are the items that are often called leathers which is simply put the jacket and pants made of leather but also these days it could be Kevlar used. You will also need some gloves and some boots. All of these things together keep either your head protected somewhat from road burns or worse.
Physical attractiveness is another trait that cars and cycles have in common but in different areas. The one problem with cars is that some cars a big and cloddy looking. The sport models can be shiny and visually exciting to look at. But all models are not created equal and neither are colors and styles. You will want to look a bit to see what appeals most to you. Cycles have a similar appeal but the one thing that is way different is the addition that you can view the riders whole body opposed to the car hiding the body.
The full body of the rider is totally seen when on motorcycles. With everyone decked out in helmets and special clothing male and female alike notice not only the rider but the cycle too. The lady riders do tend to get a bit more attention when riding. I wonder why? The ladies are also respected for learning how to operate a cycle efficiently.
Cars really can consume a bunch of gas in a trip. Around here gas has now hit $4.00 a gallon on regular so this is a bit of a concern. People are having to give up activities to afford gas in their cars. Some people are even having to sell items that they would rather not to make ends meet.
But with cycles it is something different. You may have to stop and get gas more often but only due to smaller gas tanks that only hold about 12 gallons. Because the bikes are not as hefty weight as most cars are this causes them not to burn as much gas trying to move them on the road. The extra weight of the rider on the bike really makes very little difference as to how the cycle performs gas wise. The mileage that is attained with a tank of gas is much more satisfactory on a cycle compared to a car.
The biggest thing that cars and cycles don’t have in common is price. The cost of cars is much higher than cycles. Even you buy a clunker in a car for a few hundred dollars chances are you are going to have to put thousands into it to get it fixed. Even the price of a new air conditioning unit for the car could be what a motorcycle would cost. With even cars that are brand spanking new you may have to do work on them. There are those emissions tests, brakes that need to be replaced, and front end alignments that cost a pretty penny. Heck did you know that a car loses almost one third of its value just coming off the lot. You can afford all your gear along with your helmet plus for the cycle for less than the money used for fixing the car.
The motorcycles are still cheaper even when you price the cost of the leather gear you wear. The pants and jacket typically called leathers can get quite expensive but the rest of the gear is not too bad. All of it together is still much lower priced than a car. If you shop enough you can pick up a used cycle for about $300.00. When you look at the cost of gas being cheaper boy does your pocketbook feel good.
