The Internet offers us a wide range of sites, games and categories, what games do people really like to play? After lots of research and checking, some by using of Google tools I got to some interesting facts.

The most popular games are, believe it or not, dress up! I don’t know if it’s because of the fact that girls have less categories that appeal them then boys or that they really like to play but this genre is extremely popular.

So what are dressup games, i guess some of your didn’t play those games before, well Dress up games are like dolls for girls except you dress them up online. Dress up games are a basic introduction for younger girls first encountering the world of Internet and computers, which is a good value for those girls that usually don’t approach computers, a thing that might be a disadvantage later on, compared to younger boys that have lots of interaction with the online games and computers.

You can see how popular the genre is from the large number of dress up sites on the Net. Another popular category is driving games, which always appealed to the boys and grown up men section, for some people it’s the only place they can practice fast and wild driving, well, better at the computer home then the real road.

Racing games often let you drive at high speed more then allowed by law in the comfort of your own home so many people enjoy those games.

Driving games can be judged by many of aspects, such as track selection, handling and graphics, but the most important aspect for hardcore gamers is the customization options, the more options available, the better! Racing games can get monotonous pretty fast so game programmers must innovate and find new ways to improve the game play.

Most Racing games can be categorized into two sub genres: racing simulation, in which the physics and real-world parameters of the cars are emphasized; and arcade racing, in which no accurate representation is presented, this genre offers just pure fun.

Last but not least is the vintaged shooting genre that can be categorized into two main types-the triple A adventure games and the simple shoot em’ up games with no plot, just shoot whatever stand in your way. Another popular sub genre inside those games are the space theme games that feature interesting missions and slaying some aliens and other targets that stand in our way. Shooting can be great fun games if executed properly so developers must put an emphasis on the the graphic interface and the game play engine.

Another surprisingly popular games are board games that can be described as a unique branch of strategy games, board games can appeal to both experienced gamers and casual ones, providing instant fun on any number of platforms. Well, now that you know more about popular games, choose your style and play, have fun!
