Blackberry Curve 8300: The Corporate Cell Phone
Blackberry has a wide selection of phones. Each phone comes with a variety of capabilities and functions. Not every phone is the same and one has to look carefully before choosing a phone suitable for their needs. Some phones are geared toward the younger crowds while others are targeted for an older and more business like audience. The RIM Blackberry 8300 is such a phone. While it is absent of all the media streaming and video recording functions other Blackberry curves are capable of this phone is ideal for business people. The Blackberry Curve 8300 has many applications which would be incredibly useful in a corporate setting.
For starters the 8300 offers a full QWERTY keyboard. As opposed to the older models this model features keys which are farther spaced apart and aren’t flush with the device. Meaning you wont have any trouble typing messages on the keyboard. The phone also includes an automatic spell check (which can be switched off) on all emails, messages, memos, etc. This is a great feature for those sending out important business related material and doesn’t want to embarrass him or herself with a message containing spelling errors. As well as the typing functionality the trackball navigator makes the phone a breeze to use.
Most large organizations have an account on the Blackberry Enterprise Server. Anyone using a Blackberry Curve 8300 will have access to large amounts of electronic corporate documents as well as receive corporate email. Not only that but anyone using their company’s enterprise server can also use Microsoft Office. With being able to use Microsoft office on their phones a person can open and edit Word documents, Excel sheets, and even Power Point presentations on the go.
The phone is lacking any video or audio streaming capabilities. The absence of any media streaming function is a big disappointment because of the expansive service found on V cast. The phone can still function as an MP4 player. By inserting files onto the phones 64MB flash card you can listen to music and even watch videos. Without the support of any 3G features the web browsing suffers. Load times can be quite annoying and take a while to load completely.
The camera feature found on the phone is quite adequate. It offers a couple of options for image capturing (but this feature is found on all camera phones). The phone cannot however record video. If you are a business person then this function would have seemed useless in the first place anyway.
The Blackberry Curve 8300 is a great phone for business people. With a strong focus on operating systems and business applications this phone will be extremely useful to anyone working for a large organization.
