Will LED Technology Replace LCD in Televisions

by Patty Johonson

Status lights and indicator lights were the first place LED technology was used. However, over the past several years, technology has advanced in a way that LED can now be used for general lighting needs. Samsung was one of the first companies to use LED (light-emitting diodes) for television purposes. This advance in technology is the new rave in the television world.

These little light-emitting diodes are now overtaking the old CCFL (cold cathod flourescent lamps) as the main light source used in television sets, and Samsung’s LED Full HD televisions are the first in this new class of tv to hit the market. Because of this new technology, people can now enjoy viewing their favorite shows with sharper, higher-contrast images. Even more, these televisions are sleeker and take up far less space their their old counterparts.

People can also live a greener way of life by using Samsung’s LED technologies, as they help to conserve energy. Plus, thanks to LED technology, the old backlight equipment that used mercury can be eliminated, making the home and environment safer. You can also get extended viewing from the LED style televisions which provide 40,000 hours of viewing pleasure, as compared to LCD televisions mere 60,000 viewing hours. Even with the increased viewing time, a person is saved 5 years worth of electricity. As a matter of fact, LED televisions use up to 40% less energy than the LCD HD televisions sets that are of comparable size.

LED technology captures the natural colors of real life with the production of darker blacks, crisp whites, and strong contrast between dark and vivid colors. Samsung also enhanced its LED-powered products with Auto Motion Plus frame interpolation, which effectively reduces image judder and motion blur.

LED technology captures true-to-life colors and produces darker shades and crisper lights, creating a stronger balance between bright and dark colors. Samsung has only made their LED products better with the introduction of Auto Motion Plus, which reduces the blurriness or shakiness between each picture as they move across your screen. This is a current topic and you made some very good points. I work with Sharp and they are coming on the scene with LED TVs as well. You should take a look at what they have to offer.
